Two From August 1982

I've got two leftover photos from a batch from August 1982 - an oddball match, but that's how it worked out! Here's a nice view of the Sub lagoon as seen from the Monorail station; it sure looks beautiful, gleaming in the bright sunshine. The subs come, and the subs go!

Walt Disney's father Elias worked a number of jobs throughout his life, one of them being a contractor. And that is how he is remembered in this window on Main Street (located above the Emporium). Nice!

Hey, faithful GDB readers…. I wanted to let you know that I will be going on a week-long trip starting tomorrow. It's going to be one of those trips where I will be avoiding computers and the internet as much as possible! Please keep checking in, as there will be new posts for you every day. I'm not going to be able to respond to your very-welcome comments until I return, but I look forward to reading and responding to all of it when I can. Thanks!

Major-

Nice shots today; especially the Sub lagoon. It just seems 'so right'.

Enjoy your "week-long trip" - especially the 'no computers/internet' part.

Have a great trip!

Great window. So much simpler than many of the others.

Enjoy your disconnect and have a safe trip.

Happy travels, Major!

Love the motion in the first picture, with the Peoplemover coming in and out of the trees, the subs going in and out of the waterfalls, and the people going in and out of frame on the docks.

It's useful to have the services of a good contractor when you're not sure where to put the apostrophes in your contractions, isn't it?

If these are leftover I'll take it! The sub lagoon shot is awesome. Crystal clear water, sub headed in, sub headed out, blue peoplemover. It's a great big beautiful tomorrow.

Enjoy the time off. Even Neo needed to unplug once in awhile.

Nanook, that is definitely the nicest of the two, although I like the tribute to Walt's dad. It's going to be weird to not be blogging every day!

Irene, thanks!

K. Martinez, it is true, the more current windows seem to try to outdo each other with elaborate lettering and lengthy text. Like: "Main Street Marvels; Tony Baxter; Imagination is at the heart of our creations". A nice sentiment, though…

Melissa, the complexity of the old Tomorrowland was one of its pleasure, with all of the crossovers and comings and goings. I'm hoping this trip will be tons of fun!

Alonzo, not all of the "leftuggies" are this nice, but as you know, I am a sucker for any good Tomorrowland shot. How did you know that I was going to meet up with Neo?!
