Town Square, October 1967

If you're in the mood to relax at Disneyland, then you should definitely take the time to explore Main Street U.S.A. And Town Square is the heart of the place!

Vesey Walker and the Disneyland Band look splendid in their white and gold uniforms. They've gathered 'round the flagpole to play Jimi Hendrix's "Foxy Lady", and an appreciative group listens nearby.

This little motorized Fire Truck doesn't have the pizzaz of today's giant vehicles, but I guess that's not really the point! Hopefully nothing bigger than a medium sized chicken coop ever caught fireback in the good old days, because that's about all this one would be good for. Nevertheless, it would still be fun to ride on.

Look, it's Harold Lloyd himself driving one of the Horseless Carriages! Somehow he is going to wind up hanging from the top of Sleeping Beauty's Castle, I just know it. I wonder if the small crowd gathered to the right is listening to a tour guide?

Harold Lloyd! Love him. That guy in the passenger seat must've heard you. He's looking star struck.

Medium sized Chicken coop hehe! One of your most amusing commentaries ever Maj. It was no problem though. That fire truck was only there in case. You know how it was in the early days of the park when someone went and gave them a D ticket instead of an A and those smaller horses pulling the trolley caught traction. Laid down flames clear to Center Street. Then they'd boot the rugrats off the chemical wagon and start to puttin' out the fire.

As for the band pics, they might have a foxy lady going by to our right.

Great pics today, Major...as always! Maybe Buster Keaton was able to get a gig driving the Omnibus.

Must be the full moon or something, but I am thinking a visit to the Magic Kingdom alone might be just the thing when I am out west this August. Quiet moments at Disneyland are rare but sweet.
I'd give good money to beam back into that last picture. The men all have their shirts tucked in. Something about that says everything's under control to me.
Thanks again for these wonderful flashbacks.

Hey major, another surprise appearance of the Mystery Scaffolding behind the Fire Station, first revealed in your May 18th post. This time the MS is retracted in its "stealth" position... but not stealthy enough!
